Portugal: RTP unveils the Festival Da Cançao 2025 acts and entries

RTP, the Portuguese national broadcaster, has unveiled the Festival da Cançao 2025 competing acts and entries.

Festival da Canção 2025 will consist of three live televised shows ( 2 semi-finals and a Grand Final) scheduled to be held on 22 February and 01 and 08 March at the RTP Studios in Lisbon, Portugal.

The Hosts

Filomena Cautela hosted Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon

Filomena Cautela & Vasco Palmeirim will be hosting the Festival da Cançao 2025 Grand Final.  All three shows will be broadcast live on RTP 1 and RTP Play.

The FdC 2025 Semi-final #1 will be hosted by Jorge Gabriel and José Carlos Malato, whilst Semi-final #2 will be hosted byTânia Ribas de Oliveira and Sónia Araújo.

Eurovision fans will remember Filomena Cautela as she was one of the four charming hostesses at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.

RTP unveiled the names of the twenty FdC 2025 candidates and published their respective songs on Festival Da Cançao’s official Youtube channel.

The 2025 FdC will consist of three shows ( two semi-finals and a grand final) scheduled to be broadcast live on 22 February, 01 and 08 March at the RTP Studios in Lisbon, Portuga. The Grand Final of Festival da Cançao 2025 will be held on Saturday 08 March 2025.

A total of 20 acts will battle for the golden ticket to Switzerland, 10 acts will compete in each semi-final, the top 6 entries from each semi-final will proceed to the Grand Final of FdC.  Hence 12 acts will fight for the right to represent Portugal at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in the Portuguese national final.

RTP  extended an invite to 14 composers to submit their songs for the competition, the composers were free to chose the artist/s for their respective songs. Whilst the remaining 6  entries were selected via an open public selection.

The 2025 Portuguese Eurovision entry will be determined via a 50/50 public televoting- regional jury deliberation.

Portugal in Eurovision

Portugal debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 and has won the competition once, namely in 2017 with Salvador Sobral‘s  Amor pelo dois. The country successfully hosted the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.
