About MESC 2025
Malta will be selecting its Eurovision act and entry for 2025 via its traditional national selection – Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC). MESC 2024 will consist of three televised shows ( 2 semi-finals and a Grand Final). The semi-finals will be held on 4 and 6 February. The Maltese national final will be held on 8 February 2025 at MFCC in Ta’ Qali.
A total of 24 songs will compete in the semi-finals ( 12 songs in each semi-final), the top 8 songs from each semi-final will proceed to the Grand Final. Hence a total of 16 songs will battle for the golden ticket to Eurovision 2025.
The 2025 Maltese Eurovision entry will be determined via a combined jury/public televoting deliberation.
Malta in Eurovision
Malta debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971 and is yet to win the competition. The Mediterranean island’s best result in the competition has been a second placing achieved in 2002 (Ira Losco) and 2005 (Chiara).
Malta has competed 36 times at the Eurovision Song Contest, next year will mark the country’s 37th ESC participation.
In 2024 Sarah Bonnici represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with her entry ‘Loop’.
