Malta: PBS confirms participation in Eurovision 2020

PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster, has confirmed to ESCToday that Malta will compete at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in the Netherlands next year.

Thus Malta joins the list of countries who have so far confirmed their participation at the 2020 ESC edition.

The Maltese broadcaster is yet to determine the mechanism it will use in order to select its Eurovision entry and act for Rotterdam. This year the Maltese selected their Eurovision act for Tel Aviv via X Factor Malta .

Malta in Eurovision

Malta debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971 and is yet to win the competition. The Mediterranean island’s best result in the competition has been a second placing achieved in 2002 (Ira Losco) and 2005 (Chiara).

In 2019 Malta selected its Eurovision hopeful via X Factor Malta. Michela Pace was crowned the winner of the very first edition of X Factor Malta and was awarded the golden ticket to ESC 2019. Michela flew the Maltese flag in Tel Aviv with Chameleon, achieving a 14th place in the Grand Final.

The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 12, 14 and 16 May at the Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
