Azerbaijan: Highlights from Chingiz’s postcard recording in Tel Aviv

The 2019 Azerbaijani Eurovision hopeful, Chingiz, has released a special highlights video from his postcard recording in Israel.

Chingiz, the 2019 Azerbaijani Eurovision representative travelled to Israel recently in order to film his ESC postcard. During his stay in Tel Aviv he got to meet the 2019 Italian hopeful Mahmood and enjoy the sights and sounds of the 2019 ESC host city.

He has released a special video featuring his trip to Israel, postcard rehearsals and his meeting with the Italian ESC 2019 hopeful.

This year’s Eurovision postcard concept and theme is Dancing Israel. We will see the 41 competing acts dancing with a troupe of dancers in different locations throughout Israel. The postcards will showcase the sights and sounds of the 2019 Eurovision host country.

Most of this year’s Eurovision acts have already visited Israel in order to film their respective Eurovision postcards: Miki (Spain), Bilal Hassani (France), Luca Haenni (Switzerland), Roko (Croatia), Elliot (Belgium), Joci Papai (Hungary), Oto Nemsadze (Georgia), Michela Pace (Malta), Serhat (San Marino), Lake Malawi (Czech Republic), Sergey Lazarev (Russia), Conan Osiris (Portugal), Victor Crone (Estonia), Katerine Duska (Greece), Tamta (Cyprus), Duncan Laurence (Netherlands),  etc.

Chingiz was selected via an internal selection in order to represent the Land of Fire aka Azerbaijan at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with his song Truth.

Azerbaijan in Eurovision

Azerbaijan aka The Land of Fire joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 and has won the competition once, namely in 2012 with Eldar & Nikki‘s Running scared. The following year the country welcomed the Eurovision bandwagon for the very first time in its majestic capital Baku.

The Caucasian nation has partaken in Europe’s favorite television show 11 times, having competed in the event every year since its debut in 2008.

In 2018 Azerbaijan went internal and selected Aisel to fly the Azerbaijani flag at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon with her entry X my heart, despite an extraordinary performance she failed to qualify to the Grand Final.

Chingiz and Azerbaijan will close in the Second Semi-final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv on Thursday 16 May.
