After a one-off show of Finland’s UMK competition, it has now been decided which song will represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. DJ Darude and singer Sebastian Rejman will compete in first semi-final later this year with the song Look away!
Earlier this evening, the Finnish broadcaster YLE hosted a competition to determine their entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2019.
The popular DJ, Darude, most famous for his global hit Sandstorm, was internally selected to represent his country, and this news was announced on 29 January 2019.
Like last year with Finland’s Saara Aalto, three songs were submitted for the public and jury to choose from, and tonight’s winner will be sung live on stage in Tel Aviv in May!
Three songs, but only one winner!
The three songs were gradually released throughout February, and tonight’s winner was chosen by a combination of the Finnish public and an international jury.
Release me, Superman and Look Away were all performed live tonight, but it was Look away that walked away with the crown!
After the votes were combined, it was announced that Look away was the winning song and will represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, winning both public and jury vote!
