First set of finalists of France’s national selection Destination Eurovision 2019 is known! We enjoyed a glamorous show from Paris where a total of 9 acts battled it out for a ticket to the final, but only 4 of them have now made it!
The show was hosted by the French-Canadian artist Garou, while a 3-member jury consisted of Christophe Willem, André Manoukian and Vitaa. However, this jury did not have any practical influence on the results. Tonight’s running order had initially emerged as follows:
- Battista Acquaviva – Passiò
- Lautner – J’ai pas le temps
- Chimène Badi – Là-haut
- Aysat – Comme une grande
- Mazy – Oulala
- Florina – In the shadow
- Bilal Hassani – Roi
- Naestro – Le brasier
- Silvàn Areg – Le Petit Nicolas
Apart from their songs’ interpretations, all 9 contestants sang a cover of their preference. Following nine strong live performances, the public along with the 5-member international jury panel decided to send to the Grand Final the four acts below:
- Bilal Hassani – Roi – Total (Televote & Jury): 115 points – 1st
- Chimène Badi – Là-haut – Total (Televote & Jury): 66 points – 2nd
- Silvàn Areg – Le petit Nicolas – Total (Televote & Jury): 59 points – 3rd
- Aysat – Comme une grande – Total (Televote & Jury): 44 points – 4th
Destination Eurovision 2019 goes on next Saturday at 21:00 CET, where a further set of 4 acts will complete the Grand Final’s lineup.
