Czech Republic’s machines, which will determine their Eurovision 2019 act, are now working in full motion! It all seems that Mikolas’s 6th place in Lisbon made the Czechs’ interest grow sharply and the country’s national broadcaster set the bar even higher for this year’s edition!
Two more acts in 2019
As with last year, the Czech Republic is going to decide upon their Eurovision act through the Eurovision Song CZ format, which last year was won by the young singer Mikolas Josef and his pop dance song Lie to me. Having been among the hot favourites of Eurovision 2018, Mikolas progressed to the Grand Final, where he came 6th with 281 points, the most successful Eurovision result ever for the Central European country.
Following a series of hints and teasers on who are the ones competing for the ticket to Tel Aviv, the national broadcaster Česka televize (ČT) finally revealed officially the 8 shortlisted acts through a press conference.
These are the following:
- Hana Barbara – Posledni slova tobe
- Tomáš Boček – Don’t know why
- Andrea Holá – Give me a hint
- Pam Rabbit – Easy to believe
- Lake Malawi – Friend of a friend
- Barbora Mochowa – True colors
- Jakub Ondra – Space sushi
- Jara Vymer – On my knees
The Czech selection process will be open to everyone around the world. The voting procedure has already started and is totally free through the official Eurovision App, where you may cast your votes for your favourite song by 21 January! As reported by the broadcaster, both the public and n international jury will have their say on the eventual outcome.
