SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, has announced today that it will be unveiling the 2019 Melodifestivalen host/s on Friday 26 October during a  press conference.

SVT will be holding a special conference at the SVT headquarters in Stockholm on Friday 26 October at 13:00 CEST in order to officially present the 2019 Melodifestivalen presenter/s to the assembled press. You can follow the press conference live on SVT Play.

Melodifestivalen 2019 will consist of 6 live televised shows scheduled to be held throughout Sweden:

  • 02/02/2019 – Semifinal 1 – Göteborg
  • 09/02/2019 -Semifinal 2 – Malmö
  • 16/02/2019- Semifinal 3 – Leksand
  • 23/02/2019- Semifinal 4 – Lidköping
  • 02/03/2019- Andra chansen – Nyköping
  • 09/03/2019- Grand Final – Stockholm

Multi talented Swedish comedian Marika Carlsson is amongst the hot favourites to host next year’s Melodifestivalen edition.

Sweden in Eurovision

Sweden debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has won Europe’s favorite television show 6 times ( 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015) and hosted the competition thrice in Stockholm (1975, 2000, 2016), twice in Malmo (1992, 2013) and once in Goteborg (1985).

In 2017 Benjamin Ingrosso won the Swedish national final and flew to Lisbon with his entry Dance you off achieving an honorable 7th place in the Grand Final. Sweden has been enjoying much success in the competition in recent years, Nordic country has achieved 7  TO 10 placings in the contest in the past 8 years including 2 victories.
