LIVE

Mirjam Weichselbraun, Robert Kratky and Andi Knoll open the show that will select the Austrian representative for Germany.

Song 1: Band WG – 10 Sekunden Glück

The first seconds of the song are performed with no backing track and then the drummer is seen walking on stage and beat the drums. The band is enjoying every minute on stage and the tune is catchy. It may go well with the rock-punk lovers.

Song 2: Leo Aberer & Patricia Kaiser – There Will Never Be Another You

The duo is facing each other and starts a slow song with romantic lyrics. The long run-run note may not go well and sometimes they are out of tune. There is an increase in the tempo as the song goes by. It is a mix of everything as at the end Patricia and Leo shares a rose that represents a flaming love.

Song 3: Oliver Wimmer – Let Love Kick In

The young singer is clad in a shiny grey suite. He is accompanied by two backing vocals clad in bizarre costumes. The song is like a New Romantics style. Oliver walks around the stage to make a strong song presentation. It is the best so far but there are doubts if this funky style will do well in Dusseldorf.

Song 4: Alkbottle – Wir san do net zum Spaß

Alkbottle is next on stage as they sing a hard rock entry. Pyrotechnics are used on stage while the lead singer gets down with the audience. Apart of the band another performer appears on stage locked in a cage. The ending of the song is bizarre but the song may get lost on a Eurovision stage.

Song 5: Eva K. Andersonv – I Will Be Here

The first song that probably will fit on a Eurovision stage as from the first notes the song sound promising. The vocals are unique sometimes not all the notes pitched well. Eva walks around the stage and also stands on the mini-catwalk. There are some acoustic sounds in this song but one may not find it strong to compete in a contest.

Song 6: Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl – Oida Taunz

The performers arrive on stage in a green tractor. It seems like that there is a similar entry on stage like that of Sebastien Tellier in Belgrade. The performance is very modern as it is a rap uptempo song. A dancer also performs some break dancing in the centre of the stage. The presentation is well rehearsed but it might look like too much is going on stage.

Song 7: Charlee – Good To Be Bad

The attractive lead singer is singing a rocky-pop song which sounds promising from the beginning. Two male dancers join her and at the beginning perform a similar dance routine as the winning act by Carola in the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest. Heavy make-up is used on Charlee’s cheeks as her vocals are good. The song is tailored for Eurovision and it may be a serious contender to at least advance for the super-final.

Song 8: Klimmstein feat. Joe Sumner – Paris, Paris

The hot favourites to win the Austrian ticket to Dusseldorf are on stage. This is a happy rocky song with some use of some traditional sounds. The frame-work of the song is similar to that of Athena for Turkey in 2004. The performers appear highly-confident on stage and the light-work makes the presentation looks stronger. Definitely a contender to fly the Austrian flag!

Song 9: Nadine Beiler – The Secret Is Love

Nadine starts singing the song with no backing track. Her vocal performance sounds promising from the beginning. The singer is clad in a shiny dress and the performance is set for Eurovision. The ballad is strong and this can stand out in the current line-up. Dry ice is used on stage as Nadine may be the one to pack and go to Germany to represent the country.

Song 10: Richard Klein – Bigger Better Best

The last song to compete in the national final is on. Richard enters on stage from the catwalk. He appears in a red suite as he is joined with a band. His look may seem bizarre but not as Austria offered in 2003. The tune is catchy but the act is struggling to be funny to leave an impact on the viewers.

Band WG are performing again as they had technical problems during their song presentation. The song sounds better and this can be a plus for the band to advance to the super-final.

A recap of all songs is being aired as the public will pick three acts to perform again in the super-final.

The Super-Finalists

  • Nadine Beiler – The Secret Is Love
  • Klimmstein feat. Joe Sumner – Paris, Paris
  • Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl – Oida Taunz

The three super-finalists will go on stage again and perform their respective entries while the public will vote to select the Austrian representative.

Already selected songs are pre-viewed during the show before switching to the super-final.

The Super-final

  • Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl – Oida Taunz

No tractor entrance as they shortly perform again after advancing to the super-final.

  • Klimmstein feat. Joe Sumner – Paris, Paris

The performers feel confident as if they expected to be in the super-final.

  • Nadine Beiler – The Secret Is Love

Nadine is singing her ballad again as she tries her best to get to Dusseldorf.

Tele-voting will re-open so the public will select the winner of the show.

The voting is closed and a feature that was aired last week during the Germany final is aired. Stefan Raab and Lena are on a plane as they land in the host city for the next Eurovision Song Contest.

3rd place: Klimmstein feat. Joe Sumner – Paris, Paris

2nd place: Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl – Oida Taunz

1st place: Nadine Beiler – The Secret Is Love
