RTBF, the Belgian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Belgium will participate at the forthcoming 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.

Thus Belgium joins Germany, Sweden, Cyprus, France, Switzerland, Malta and Norway, all of whom have confirmed their participation at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.

The French-speaking Belgian broadcaster is yet to confirm the mechanism it will use to select its Eurovision entry and act for Israel. It is more than likely that Belgium will go for an internal selection as has been the case in the last years, proven to be quite successful for the country.

More information and details regarding the 2019 Belgian Eurovision project are expected to be released in due course.

Belgium in Eurovision

Belgium is one of the founding members of the Eurovision Song Contest having debuted in 1956. The country has won the competition once in 1986 with Sandra Kim.

In 2018, Belgium went internal and selected SENNEK to fly the Belgian flag at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon with her entry A matter of time. Despite a great performance, the nation failed to qualify to the Grand Final.
