Odds Monitor: Estonia seizes third favourite as Norway shortens towards Israel

Estonia has overtaken France as third favourite to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, on the day that saw the automatic finalists rehearse in Lisbon for the very first time.
Odds strengthened steadily in Elina’s favour over the past few days, after solid performances of “La forza” in rehearsals. By this evening, Estonia was on odds as short as 4/1 with some bookies, snapping at the heels of Norway, still unshiftable on silver. France, in the meantime, drifts slightly into fourth, with best odds of up to 12/1 (Betway) at the time of writing.
There is some drift at the very top of the table, too. Best odds on Israel winning are as high as 2/1 currently, up from much shorter fractional odds at the beginning of the week. This brings the gap separating Israel and Norway ever closer, particularly with some bookies; William Hill, with Israel on 7/4 and Norway on 5/1, is a good example of the closing gap.
Beyond the top four, there is otherwise only some minor shuffling today. Cyprus made it briefly into fifth favourite position over the course of the day, before settling back in seventh behind the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. Sweden, Australia and Italy complete the top ten favourites in the win markets, with Jessica Mauboy gaining a little ground on Italy to recapture ninth position.

Odds to win: top ten

  1. Israel
  2. Norway
  3. Estonia
  4. France
  5. Czech Republic
  6. Bulgaria
  7. Cyprus
  8. Sweden
  9. Australia
  10. Italy
It’s getting tight at the top. Will Alexander or Elina become ever more serious threats to Netta over the coming days? Can France regain its lost ground with bookmakers?
