Spain: TVE announces list of Eurovision precandidates

The Spanish public broadcaster TVE have today announced the list of 30 precandidates for the country's national selection for Eurovision 2011. 24 of them will make it to the televised stage of the process. Among them we can find both familiar faces and newcomers.

The 30 selected acts have qualified from the auditions held in Barcelona a week ago. They will have to go through another selection phase, which will result in six of them being eliminated. The reimaining 24 will participate in the televised semifinals to be held on a yet unknown date.

Among the lucky acts, there are some familiar faces to the Spanish public and Eurovision fans, such asSonia y Selena (national final 2001), Alazán (national final 2000) orBaltanás (national finals 2007 and 2008). There are also several former Operación Triunfo participants.

As esctoday.com reported, TVE reserves the right to invite established artists to take part in the selection as wildcards. Whether they will participate remains to be seen and will be announced at a later date.
