Estonia: 140 songs submitted for Eesti Laul 2011

Submissions deadline passed today in Estonia and national broadcaster ERR has informed today that 140 songs have been received in order to take part in Eesti Laul 2011. Last year, 155 applications were made. Half of the entries were received within the last hour before the deadline closed.

Now, an internal jury will select 20 entries out of all the submissions, to be announced on Friday. Each of the two semifinals of Eesti Laul 2011 will feature 10 songs, proceeding to the final 5 of them. This result will be decided by a mixture of jury vote and televote at a 50/50 split. Therefore, 10 songs will reach the final battle to represent Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. The winner and thus Estonian representative will be decided by 100% televote.

Tickets for the shows can be purchased right at the Nokia Concert Hall in Tallinn or online on the website ERR has also revelaed that the budget for Eesti Laul is 3.5 million krooni (223,690 euro).
