Spanish national television has received 1142 songs that are elegible to compete at the forthcoming Spanish Eurovision national selection, whilst 477 candidates will be battling to compere in the Spanish semi finals. The online call for the submission of songs and candidates finished last Sunday. TVE will now evaluate and select the best songs and candidates that will qualify to compete in the Spanish Eurovision 2011 Eurovision selection.

As we announced previously both the song and singer will be selected separately. A total of 4 galas will be held in order to select the candidate singers and songs to represent Spain in Dusseldorf next May. Some artists will be invited as Jokers to compete in the Spanish national final.

Spain debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 has been competing in Europe's favourite show religiously every year without missing out.
