Russia confirms participation in Düsseldorf

Eurovision fan website escdaily.com reports that Russia has also confirmed its participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest next May in Düsseldorf. Russia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1994 with Youdiph and the song Vechni stranik. Russia has become one of the most successful countries at the Eurovision Song Contest in the past decade, having won once and achieving a 2nd placing twice and a 3rd placing twice.

It is still unknown how the Russian entry will be chosen, if there will be an internal selection or a national final to select both their song and singer for Düsselfdorf. Russia won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 with Dima Bilan and his song Believe. Russia hosted the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow with grandeur and splendour.

Russia has sent some of its most famous and most sought after artists to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest: Alla Pugacheva, Muimmy Troll, Dima Bilan, Philip Kirkorov, Serebro, Alsou, Premier Minister, Tatu to name a few.
