We do have a winner! After three semi-final shows, a voting failure that eventually sent to the final an initially non-qualifier and thousands of counted votes, it has now been decided that Laura Rizzotto will be Latvia’s entrant at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest!

A funny girl has won Supernova!

We witnessed quite an enjoyable show from the capital Riga. Not a long time after the closure of the voting lines, the announcement of the final results began, which had emerged by both a jury and public voting.

Latvia at Eurovision

The Baltic state of Latvia joined the Eurovision house in 2000 and it did not take long to meet the victory, as two years later, the singer Marie N made her country proud and brought the trophy home with her entry I wanna. Since then, Latvia has had mixed fortunes in the competition.

The country’s latest Top 10 placing was back in 2015, when the singer Aminata with her eccentric performance reached a respectable 6th place, with the song Love injected. Last year, Latvia was represented by the rock band Triana Park, which competed at Kyiv’s first semi-final with the track Line and finished 18th with 21 points. Therefore, it did not qualify to the final.

This year, Latvia will take part in the 2nd half of the second semi-final on 10 May, in the hope of a qualification to Lisbon’s Grand Final. The 63rd Eurovision Song Contest will be held on 8, 10 and 12 May at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal.
