Hold your horses Europe and save the date! CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster has announced today that Eleni Foureira’s Eurovision entry Fuego will be officially premiered on Friday 2 March.

Eleni Foureira was selected via an internal selection in order to defend the Cypriot colours at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. Her Eurovision entry Fuego will be premiered a week from today on CyBC’s evening news bulletin on Friday 2 March at 20:00 local time (19:00 CET).

The countdown has begun! 7 sleeps and we will get to hear the 2018 Cypriot entry!

The artistic director for the 2018 Cypriot Eurovision entry will be none other than Sacha Jean-Baptiste, who has been behind the staging of various countries in recent years:  Australia, Cyprus, Georgia, Bulgaria and Armenia.

The 2018 Cypriot Eurovision entry has been composed by Alex Papaconstatinou, the man behind several Eurovision entries; Greece 2007, Azerbaijan 2009 and Cyprus 2012.

The stunning Cypriot Eurovision hopeful was officially presented as the 2018 Cypriot Eurovision hopeful few week backs at a special press conference in Athens.

Aphrodite’s island graced the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1981 with the group Island.

The Mediterranean country is yet to win the competition and achieved its best results in the contest in 1982, 1997 and 2004 when it placed 5th.

Cyprus will compete in the First Semi-final of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest on 8 May in Lisbon.
