At the hight of the show, the number of viewers rose to 4,42 million. With an average viewing number of 3,17 million and a market share of 9,9 percentage, it is safe to say that Unser Song für Lissabon was a hit in more than one way, the public tuning in to see artist Michael Schulte taking the crown with his endearing entry You let me walk alone, inspired by his late father.

For the young singer-songwriter, a dream has come true:

This was my biggest dream: I wanted to go to the ESC in Lisbon so badly. And that is now fulfilled!

Thomas Schreiber, ARD Entertainment Co-ordinator and NDR Head of Fiction and Entertainment, states:

Thrice twelve points – that is a clear vote for Michael Schulte and his very personal song about his father. We are very happily looking forward to travelling to Lisbon with him! Thanks to all viewers, who tuned in and who voted with us, and thank you to all jury-members from all over Europe. And a great and heartfelt thank you for Xavier Darcy, Ivy Quainoo, Ryk, Natia Todua and the band voXXclub for their trust in us.

About the voting procedure, Thomas Schreiber continues:

The voting procedure is a new start for us. The words of encouragement and the interest from Europe, that reached me in the night, show that we took the right course. For Linda Zervakis and Elton it was the 20.15-premiere – you were great!

Voting statistics
