Malta: Colin Fitz to host 2018 Maltese national final

Only a few days left until the Maltese national final for Eurovision 2018 takes place; there is still some time for news from the island nation! Today it was announced that Colin Fitz will host the show on 3 February.

Colin Fitz will host the final night of Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC). This was announced this morning on during an interview on a local radio.

Last year’s presenter, Daniel Azzopardi, said that he will hand over the prestigious role to Fitz. The national final is scheduled to take place on 3 February with no less than 16 acts.

The complete versions of the 16 finalists of MESC are available online, with tickets for the national final also available to purchase.

The winner of Malta Eurovision Song Contest will be determined via a 100% public televote.

Malta in Eurovision

Malta has participated 30 times in the Eurovision Song Contest since its debut in 1971. The country ranked twice runner-up, in 2002 and 2005, and is therefore yet to win. Malta also achieved three times the last placement: 1971, 1972 and 2006.

Last year Malta was represented by Claudia Faniello with the song Breathlessly. She arrived 16th with 55 points, missing out the pass to the Grand Final. Have a look at her performance here:
