The runner-up of the X-Factor 2012, Jahméne, has teased fans with hints of a future Eurovision participation.

The soul singer posted a poll on his Twitter account asking fans to vote if they would like him to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest. The poll received over 1,200 votes, the majority of which would like to see him perform on the Eurovision stage.

I feel I should represent @Eurovision at some point as people keep telling me every year. I’ve never really been sure,but… could be fun! Bring some Soul!

Following the closure of his initial poll, Jahméne revealed that over 81% of the votes revealed that they would like to see him representing the nation, “putting himself forward” for future editions of the competition.

Who is Jahméne?

Jahméne Aaron Douglas, known commonly under just his first name, was born in Birmingham in 1991.

Jahméne became known in the United Kingdom after participating and finishing in second place in the X-Factor 2012, runner-up to James Arthur.

After signing a record deal with Sony Music and RCA Records, in July 2013, his debut album Love never fails reached number one on the UK Album Charts, featuring duets with X-Factor mentor Nicole Scherzinger and American soul singer Stevie Wonder.

He has since released five singles, been nominated for a MOBO award and won Best Male Newcomer at the Urban Music Awards.

Having spoken openly about domestic violence and abuse he witnessed and received during his early life, Jahméne became the first youth ambassador for the UK charity Women’s Aid for children and young people.
