Last night saw Bucks Fizz’s Cheryl Baker make her debut on the Dancing On Ice rink, as the return of the British television show got into full swing!

It was night 2 of the British-based ice skating competition, Dancing On Ice, in which celebrities and known figures from across the country took to the rink in order to show the viewing public and judges their newly-acquired skating skills.

With 6 celebrities competing in last week’s show, last night saw the remaining 6 competitors participating to continue their journey within the competition.

Actress Brooke Vincent, rugby player Max Evans, singer Lemar, actress and presenter Donna Air and forecaster Alex Beresford each competed alongside Bucks Fizz member and former Eurovision winner, Cheryl Baker, ready to show the country what they have learnt so far.

Eurovision meets the ice!

For her debut performance, Cheryl Baker decided to perform a routine to hers and Bucks Fizz’s winning Eurovision entry, Making your mind up, which paid homage to the British band’s winning performance from 1981.

The grand skirt-removal made its return to Baker’s performance last night, making for a fun and colourful show together with her skating partner Daniel Whiston.

Whilst Baker received high support from the audience, the 4-member judging panel failed to see the appeal, with the singer receiving the lowest amount of points of the evening with 11.5. Here is a point-breakdown:

  • Jason Gardiner: 2.5
  • Ashley Banjo: 3.0
  • Jane Torvill: 3.0
  • Christopher Dean: 3.0

Despite low points from the judges, the public well and truly got behind the former Eurovision winner who went on to save Baker in the competition.

Baker will continue her journey in the competition over the coming weeks, together with the remaining 10 participants. Dancing On Ice continues next Sunday on ITV from 18:00 local time.
