Dutch rock star Anouk has been honoured with the 100% NL Award for her entire works. Moreover, she is set to make her debut at festival Oerrock 2018.

A busy time for Anouk, who represented the Netherlands at Eurovision 2013. The artist may add another award to her collection, as she has received the 100% NL Oeuvre Award for her musical achievements.

She will also make her debut at the festival Oerrock in Ureterp.

100% NL Oeuvre Award

The 100% NL Oeuvre Award is an initiative of radio station 100% NL, honouring the career of renowned Dutch artists. 100% NL is very pleased that Anouk has been chosen to finally receive the award:

Twenty years after Anouk’s breakthrough with Nobody’s Wife she is honoured by us with the 100% NL Oeuvre Award! With her enormous vocal talent and her distinctive personality she is the most popular female rock singer of the Netherlands, remaining unnoticed by nobody. Congratulations Anouk!

On 20 February the rest of the 100% NL Awards will be handed out, for which the public may still vote.

Besides Anouk, there’s already one other artist who has won: singer Maan, who was one of the artist named to potentially represent the Netherlands at Eurovision 2018, has received the Musical Moment of the Year Award, being voted by the public above OG3NE (who were nominated for their Eurovision 2017 performance) and Dutch Eurovision 2018 participant, Waylon.

OG3NE received the Musical Moment of the Year Award last year (for their live performance of Clown).

Debut at Oerrock 2018

Anouk is known for her powerful live performances, and she has a lot of gigs planned for the Spring and Summer of 2018.

She will make her debut as headliner at the 19th edition of festival Oerrock in Ureterp on the 10 May. Festival chairman Sietze Boonstra is thrilled that Oerrock finally managed to include Anouk in the line-up:

We have been trying to get Anouk to Ureterp for years. She is the only Dutch top artist who was missing from our list. It is special that Anouk will be coming this year. Anouk is a huge hit, yet Oerrock has more to offer (…) A broad and varied programme with something for everyone.

Anouk joins acts such as DI-RECT, Chef’Special and Miss Montreal (with front-woman Sanne Hans, Anouks colleague as a coach at The Voice Of Holland).

Oerrock 2018 in Ureterp takes place on 10, 11 and 12 May.

The concert on the 10 May, at which Anouk performs, was sold out within two hours: all tickets via internet are gone. However, a limited number of tickets for the 10 May will be sold on 24 March, at the Oerrock Play-Offs Final in MFC De Wier, Ureterp (25 Euro’s per ticket, maximum 4 tickets per person, GONE=GONE).

For the show on the 12 May, traditionally Oerrock Tribute with cover bands, tickets are still available. The programme for Friday 11 May will be revealed in due time, and this show has traditionally free entry.

About Anouk

Anouk Teeuwe (The Hague, 1975) is the most popular female rock singer of the Netherlands, who is also internationally acclaimed.

She had her breakthrough in 1997 with the hit Nobody’s wife and since then released many albums, her songs topping the charts, and receiving numerous prizes.

She is currently one of the coaches in the popular TV-show The Voice Of Holland, alongside Eurovision 2014 and 2018 participant, Waylon.

Among Anouk’s songs is her duet with Dutch Eurovision 2016 representative Douwe Bob, Hold me.

In her private life, Anouk is mother of six children.

Anouk at Eurovision

Anouk herself participated in Eurovision 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, with the dark ballad Birds.

She convincingly brought the Netherlands back to the Grand Final, the country missing out in eight consecutive years. To boot, Anouk earned a respectable top-10 position, placing 9th in the Grand Final, receiving 114 points.

Birds and the accompanying album Sad Singalong Songs were a huge success.

In 2015, Anouk wrote the lyrics for the song Walk along with which singer Trijntje Oosterhuis represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria. Anouk sings backing vocals in the studio version of Walk along.

Although Trijntje Oosterhuis placed 5th with the jury’s in semi-final 1, the public was not convinced by her performance. She eventually placed 14th out of 16 contestants, with 33 points.

In retrospect, Trijntje Oosterhuis cited various personal (she had just discovered she was pregnant), technical and visual difficulties surrounding her performance, although she is positive about the overall Eurovision experience.

She was awarded with the fan-based Barbara Dex Award for worst-dressed participant of 2015.
