France: First half of Destination Eurovision 2018 acts revealed

The first half of the artists set to compete in France’s upcoming Eurovision selection, Destination Eurovision 2018, have now been revealed. Check out the official introduction of each artist, together with a short snippet of their competing entries!

Over the past number of days, the French national broadcaster – France 2 – has been unveiling each of the participants set to compete in the country’s forthcoming national selection: Destination Eurovision.

A total of 18 artists will be competing for the right to become France’s next Eurovision representative; we now know the first 9 acts chosen to compete in the competition, alongside the names of each artist’s bidding entry.

Check out the first 9 acts set to compete in Destination Eurovision below, together with a short biography along with a snippet of their bidding songs.

Over the coming days, the remaining 9 acts will be unveiled by France 2 ahead of the first semi-final of the competition, set to air on the 13 January. The semi-final allocation of the 18 participants will be unveiled in due course.

In total, 4 acts will qualify from each semi-final show, meaning that 8 acts will compete in the final of the national selection.

The semi-final qualifiers will be determined via a 6-member jury panel; 3 members will be made up of Francophone artists, whilst the remaining 3 jury members will consist of international members.

The final winner will be determined via a combined 50/50 public-jury vote, the winner of which will go on to become France’s next representative at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
