Another set of results are in from the audition phase of The Next Star in Israel’s search for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest representative.

In tonight’s show, a total of 8 artists auditioned to both the audience and the 4-member judging panel, hoping to earn their votes and proceed to the next phase of the national selection.

The eventual winner of The Next Star will become Israel’s next representative at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, who will go on to compete in one of the 2 semi-finals in Lisbon this coming May.

Six acts advance this evening

From the 8 auditionees, 6 managed to receive the votes needed in order to advance to the next part of the competition. The qualifiers from tonight’s show were as follows:

  • Mike Uzan (72%, ‘Yes’ vote from 2 judges)
  • Oriyan Afael (71%, ‘Yes’ vote from 2 judges)
  • Jenny Polotsky (81%, ‘Yes’ vote from 3 judges)
  • Shir Mizrachi (58%*, ‘Yes’ vote from 2 judges)
  • Lior Halevi (79%, ‘Yes’ vote from 3 judges)
  • Zohar Raziel (97%, ‘Yes’ vote from all 4 judges)

*Whilst Shir Mizrachi received under the asking 70% of the ‘Yes’ vote, a new twist in the show saw the 2 hosts, Assi Azar and Rotem Sela, save the artist and therefore advance to the next stage.

Shai Gal and Jonny Koren failed to receive the votes needed in order to advance in the selection.

Receiving the highest percentage of the vote by far this evening was the final auditionee of the evening: Zohar Raziel. The singer managed to impress both the judging panel and the viewing audience, receiving a grand total of 97% of the ‘Yes’ vote.
