The results are in from tonight’s episode of The Next Star, in which a further 5 artists have advanced to the next stage of the Israeli national selection.

Tonight we saw yet another 8 artists auditioning in The Next Star, hoping to receive the votes of the public and jury with the chance of advancing to the next stage of the competition.

The Next Star, which will determine Israel’s representative for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, requires bidding artists to receive a minimum of 70% of the ‘Yes’ vote in order to proceed in the selection.

A total of 40% of the ‘Yes’ vote can come from the 4-member jury panel, whilst the remaining votes will come from the audience.

Tonight’s qualifiers

Whilst 8 artists auditioned, only 5 artists managed to gain the votes to qualify to the next stage of the competition.

  • Jordan Uzan (77%, ‘Yes’ from 3 judges)
  • Rebecca (76%, ‘Yes’ from 3 judges)
  • Stav Vaknin (81%, ‘Yes’ from 3 judges)
  • Tzahi & Oded (77%, ‘Yes’ from 3 judges)
  • Karin Mary Suliman (50%*, ‘Yes’ from 1 judge)

Eliminated from tonight’s show was Or Sella, Joseph Guedj and Selfish Shepherd.

*The final performer of the evening, Karin, failed to receive the votes needed in order to advance in the selection. That was until the artist was saved by jury members Static & Ben-El Tavori, therefore having another chance of impressing the judges in the next show.
