Former Eurovision contestant from Albania, Elhaida Dani, has a whole set of surprises for her fans. The 24 year-old has just released a new single and an EP is expected to be published before Christmas. Moreover, Elhaida has entered a pop music competition.

Elhaida Dani seems to appreciate music competitions. Her career began by winning the first edition of The Voice in Italy, her second home. Her reputation in Albania brought her to conquer in 2014 the 53rd edition of Festivali i Këngës, the Albanian national selection. Therefore, at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 in Vienna with her hit I’m alive, Elhaida qualified for the final and reached the seventeenth spot.

Kënga Magjike 2017

Once again, Elhaida is back in a music competition in Albania, the Magic Song 2017 (Kënga Magjike 2017), whose grand final will be hosted in the Congress Palace of Tirana in December. The competing song is her brand new single E ngrire (Frozen).

The Magic Song is a popular musical event in Albania. First organised in 1999, it is a famous contest amongst singers and bands of the region with different music styles.

A powerful song with a layer of Gospel

Dani has written the lyrics and composed the music by herself. Darko Dimitrov did the production and the arrangement. In addition, the Gospel Choir, directed by Alessandro Pozzetto, has been registered and arranged in Italy.

E ngrire is a touching and powerful song, enhanced by an incredible vocal range, one of the characteristics of Elhaida’s voice, and by the Gospel sound.

Before the end of the year, an English version of the song accompanied by an official video is expected to be out. At the same time, Elhaida should release a Christmas EP of unpublished English songs.

Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest

Albania entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and has since then took part 14 times. The Albanian broadcaster, Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH) is the organiser of the Albanian national selection.

The winner of the long-standing Albanian song contest, Festivali i Këngës, receives the right to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The best result for the Balkan country is the fifth place of Rona Nishliu in 2012.
