Latvia has decided – Aisha to Oslo!

Tonight, Latvia has selected whose name is going to stand on the boardning cards travelling to Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo.

Out of 10 final songs the televote decided three compositions to enter the Grand final:

Dons – My religion is freedom
Ivo Grisnins – Grislis – Because I love you
Aisha – What for? (Only Mr. God knows)

When the results of the second round of the televote were equally added up with the opinion of the jury, the winner song was selected:

1. Aisha – What for? (Only Mr. God knows)
2. Dons – My religion is freedom
3. Ivo Grisnins – Grislis – Because I love you poll results

The poll voters did not completely share the same opinion as the Latvian audience. The only entry both the poll voters and Latvians strongly agreed on was What for? performed by Aisha (27.8%). The other two grand final songs, My religion is freedom (4.0%) and Because I love you (2.3%) shared respectively 8th and 9th places out of ten in the poll chart. national final awards 2010

The 2010 National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year – you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh. You can vote for your favourite performance not to qualify in theLatvian national final here and for your favourite song not to qualify here.

The Latvian entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2010 will be performed in the first semi final held on May 25th.
