Tonight, the fourth and last semi final of Melodifestivalen 2010, the Swedish pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, was held. Out of eight competing acts, two were chosen to advance to the grand final. Two others will be given a second chance in Andra chansen, to be held next week.
The following two acts will compete in the national final on 13th March:
- Anna Bergendahl – This is my life
(Bobby Ljuggren/Kristian Lagerström) - Peter Jöback – Hollow
(Anders Hansson, Fredrik Kempe)
The following two acts will enter the second chance round on 6th March:
- NEO – Human frontier
(Tobias Jonsson, Anneli Axelsson) - Pernilla Wahlgren – Jag vill om du vågar
(Pontus Assarsson, Jörgen Ringqvist/Daniel Barkman, Pontus Assarsson, Jörgen Ringqvist)
The results
The qualifiers were chosen in two rounds of voting. The winner of the first round was Anna Bergendahl and she directly qualified for the final of Melodifestivalen 2010. The top thre had already been removed before the voting in the first round was closed. They were Py Bäckman, Sibel and Lovestoned. The remaining four acts competed in the second round of the voting and Peter Jöback directly qualified for the final being the winner with NEO and Pernilla Wahlgren making it to the second chance round.

The esctoday.com poll voters could hardly agree less with the results: Poll top two Sibel (34.4%) and Lovestoned (18.1%) were both eliminated in the first round. Semi final winner Anna Bergendahl finished fourth in the poll (10.1%) while the other qualifier NEO finished 6th with 7.0% of the votes.
The Swedish entry for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will be performed in the first half of the second semi final, to be held on May 27th.
