SMRTV, the Sammarinese national broadcaster has announced today that circa 600 entries have been submitted for the 2018 Sammarinese national selection.

San Marino has come up with a brand new innovative and ground breaking concept in order to select its Eurovision act and entry for Lisbon. SMRTV confirmed San Marino’s Eurovision participation last month and revealed its mechanism and project for Eurovision 2018.

SMRTV and partner 1 in 360 have received nearly 600 entries so far. The submission period concludes at the end of the month.

San Marino’s Head of Delegtion Mr. Alessandro Capicchioni says:

We have received 600 memberships today and nearly 300 are already posted on the Youtube channel. Did we expect such a response?

It was not far from our forecast given the amount of proposals, more or less from all over the world  that we receive every year. This time, we have given everyone the chance to make a dream come true.

It is amazing to receive proposals from Cameroon, Tajikistan, Lebanon, South Africa, Iran, China and Haiti, to name a few, as well as from the United States and almost all European countries.

There are not many candidates from neighboring Italy, at present some ten, but still no one from San Marino. It is a competition also designed for home artists, and for which we have developed a system that enhances them. We can not wait to prove that even our artists have something to say.
