In an interview given this morning to radio Europe 1, Nicolas Pernikoff, enterntainment manager at France 2, has confirmed that France's choice for Eurovision 2010 is Jessy Matador. The appointment has tight connections with the next FIFA World Cup, as Jessy's song for Eurovision will be also used to promote the event in France.

esctoday.com has been reporting this week that the Congolese singer was highly likely to be chosen by France Télévisions to be the country's representative in Eurovision. No information as to the selection method of the song has been disclosed yet, but it is sure that the French public broadcasting group aims to go beyond the Eurovision Song Contest, as they want Jessy's entry to become a summer hit and help promoting FIFA World Cup, to be held next summer in South Africa.

Jessy Matador's debut came as a dancer in the group Les Coeurs Brisés (broken hearts), playing in Congo, Europe and North America. In 2005, he gave birth to his own group, under the name of La Selesao, made of 5 dancers with a special concept entitled Show Kanawa. The band played as opening of the Magic System, another group, especially in the Parisian concert hall Le Bataclan.

Jessy Matador's got a first success during the Summer of 2008 with the song Décalé Gwada, which you can listen to below. Note that this is not the song to be performed in Oslo.

France, as a member of the big-4, is automatically qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 final, to be held on May 29th.
