Iceland sends Hera Björk to Eurovision

Tonight, the Icelandic national final was held. The televoters decided the Hera Björk will defend the Icelandic colours at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo, with her song Je ne sais quoi, which she wrote together with Örlygur Smári, who has also been responsible for Iceland's Eurovision entries of 2000 and 2008.

The winner of the Icelandic national final was chosen by televoting and only the top two were announced. Hera Björk won ahead of Jógvan Hansen.

Before becoming Iceland's Eurovision entrant for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, Hera Björk was backing vocal of the Icelandic Eurovision entries of 2009 and 2008 and reached 2nd place in last year's Danish national final with Someday. poll results

The 2010 National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year – you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh.
