CT, Cezka Televize, the Czech national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that the Czech Republic will join the party at the forthcoming 2018 Eurovision Song Contest next year in Portugal.
CT will once more opt for an internal selection in order to select its Eurovision act and entry for Lisbon. In 2017, the broadcaster selected Martina Barta to represent the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv. Despite a great performance, she failed to qualify to the Grand Final.
Czech Republic in Eurovision
The Czech Republic debuted in the competition in 2007 with Kabat and is yet to win the event. The country has qualified to the Grand final only once, namely in 2016 with Gabriela Gunčíková.
Eurovision 2018
The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 8, 10 and 12 May in Lisbon, Portugal.
The deadline for broadcasters to officially apply for Eurovision 2018 concluded on 15 September. Hereafter, countries have a grace period until 10 October to confirm their participation or withdraw their application without a penalty.
The final list of the 2018 Eurovision participating countries is expected to be released by the EBU later during the year.
