Azerbaijan: Ictimai confirms participation in Eurovision 2018

The 5th day of the 10 Days of Confirmations round has arrived and one more country joins the participants list for the Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal. Ictimai, the national broadcaster of Azerbaijan has confirmed to ESCToday that they will participate at the upcoming 2018 Eurovision Song Contest and all those good feelings, we’re feeling all of them!

Azerbaijan will for sure be in Lisbon next year, but they are yet to determine the mechanism they will use to select their Eurovision entry for Eurovision 2018. In recent years Azerbaijan has gone internal acquiring great results.

In 2017 Azerbaijan selected Dihaj to defend the Land of Fire at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with her entry Skeletons. In the past, the country tried various methods to select their entry. Which one do you think is the most suitable for 2018?

Azerbaijan in Eurovision

Azerbaijan joined our beloved contest in 2008 and has won the competition once, namely  in 2011 with Eldar and Nikki. Baku successfully hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012. The country has never missed the Grand Final since it debut.

Eurovision 2018

The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 8, 10 and 12 May in Lisbon, Portugal.

The deadline for broadcasters to officially apply for Eurovision 2018 concludes by mid September. Hereafter, countries have a grace period to confirm their participation or withdraw their application without a penalty.

The final list of the 2018 Eurovision participating countries is expected to be released by the EBU later during the year.
