Yesterday in Amsterdam, European Broadcasting Union honoured Polish Television (TVP) for its outstanding performance in 2002.

A great gala took place in Amsterdam yesterday. Robert Kwiatkowski, President of TVP (pictured together with Jean Stock, EBU Secretary General and Bob Collins, Chairman of the EBU TV Committee) said it was a great surprise and a tremendous honour for the whole of the team of employees and creative staff at TVP. There are many excellent public stations in Europe and I understand that Telewizja Polska has found itself among this group, said Kwiatkowski.

Polish Television won a competition with such a well-known and famous broadcasters like British BBC and Dutch NOS. TVP was awarded for a high level of its programmes and its strong position among many commercial stations in Poland.

TVP was founded in 1952, it is one of the oldest and biggest national broadcasters in Europe. It hosts many sport and cultural events, like Volleyball World League Final in 2001 or Sopot Festivals. TVP is a member of EBU since 1993 and takes part in Eurovision Song Contest since 1994.
