In anticipation of the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine, Italian broadcaster RAI has released a television add in support of participant Francesco Gabbani. In the add, Francesco Gabbani himself is featured, along with his simian companion.
In RAI‘s Eurovision commercial, we can follow Francesco Gabbani and his gorilla friend training for the big event, the Grand Final of the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest. All is in good fun of course, yet nevertheless, Francesco Gabbani and his entourage will give their best on the ESC stage, as the Italian artists’ entry Occidentali’s karma is the top favourite to win the 2017 edition of the ESC, according to polls and bookmakers.

Francesco Gabbani (Carrara, Italy, 1982) is an Italian singer-songwriter. He gained mainstream popularity after winning the newcomer’s category at the 2016 Sanremo Music Festival with the song Amen. In 2017, the artist won the main category at the Sanremo Music Festival, and thus the right to represent Italy at Eurovision 2017, with his song Occidentali’s karma.
Francesco Gabbani will perform Occidentali’s karma during the Grand Final of the ESC 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Saturday 13 May, as Italy is one of the “Big 5” countries and thus already placed for the final.
