Dora 2010 will take place on the 5th and 6th of March at the Crystal Hall of the Kvarner Hotel in Opatija. Sixteen acts will fight it out in the semi final leading to the grand final the next day for the honour to represent Croatia in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. HRT are now launching an open call for songs until 15th December.

Sixteen songs out of those submitted to the Croatian broadcaster will be selected by an HRT jury to proceed to the Dora 2010 semi final on 5th March. Eight of them will qualify to the final via televoting. HRT has extended an invitation to eight authors of the 2009 local top hits – two less invited than last year.- to also submit their proposals. These songs will compete directly in the final, together with the eight qualifiers from the semi.

Just like last year, the sixteen semifinalists will be presented in two preview shows on HRT1 on 11th and 12th February. International fans will once more be able to watch the Croatian preselection on the internet as there will be a live webcast.

Croatia entered the Eurovision song Contest in 1993 and have been regular contributors ever since. Their best placing came in 1996 and 1999 when Maja Blagdan and Doris Dragovic both placed fourth.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
