The Spanish public broadcaster, TVE, will shortly announce their plans for the 2010 national selection for Eurovision. The station is set to stop joke entries from participating in the national contest, television website vertele.com says.
Some weeks ago, it was announced that a well-known Spanish journalist working at a gossip tv show on the commercial station Telecinco, namely Karmele Marchante, was to enter three joke songs to the Spanish preselection for Eurovision 2010. Now, according to vertele.com, the public broadcaster is all set to stop this attempts of mock acts to pollute the national selection process. RTVE is even considering taking legal actions against Telecinco to protect the reputation of the competition, the same website claims.
The Spanish selection method for 2010 will seek the quality. The aim of the public corporation would be to bring professional musicians and singers to the stage, who would fight for a good placing in Eurovision, according to internal sources quoted by vertele.com. This means that the 2010 Spanish Eurovision participation is confirmed.
