Estonia may not take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, despite the fact that they succeded last year for the first time since the introducion of the semi finals to qualify for the big final of the contest. It seems that the main cause of this possibility is the 7% cut in the budget.

As esctoday.com reported earlier this month, the participation of Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 is in serious danger. The Baltic country, winner of the 2001 competition, may be the third Eurovision nation to officially announce their withdrawal (after the Czech Republic and Hungary did so).

The ERR media relations manager, Mrs. Anneli Tõevere-Kaur, stated that the final decision has not yet been made, but the most possible scenario is quitting Eurovision participation in order to face the financialdifficulties. "Giving up Eurovision participation in 2010 is being discussed because of the 28-million kroons budget cut of ERR but the final decision has not yet been made", she said.

Estonia debuted in Europe's most loved show in 1994 when Silvi Vrait finished second last. Since then, they succeeded 7 rankings in the top 10, including a victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 and a joint 3rd place at the edition they hosted in 2002. Last year, Urban Symphony finished on the 6th spot with their song Randajad.
