After a one-year break, Romania returns to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017. Tonight the national final of the country’s Selecția Națională is going to take place in Bucharest with 10 acts hoping for the ticket to Kyiv.

How to watch

The national selection will be aired live from TVR1 and TVRHD at 19:30 CET. You can also watch Selecția Națională live via the official website of the Romanian broadcaster TVR.

The participants

The 10 songs that progressed to tonight’s final after the audition stage and the semi-final on 26 February are:

• Ramona Nerra – Save me 
• Instinct – Petale
• Eduard Santha – Wild child
• Tavi Colen & Emma – We own the night
• Ilinca feat. Alex Florea – Yodel it!
• Maxim feat. Nicolae Voiculeț – Adu-ți aminte
• MIHAI – I won’t surrender
• Ana-Maria Mirică – Spune mi-tu
• Xandra – Walk on by

MIHAI is the artist Mihai Trăistariu, who participated in Eurovision 2006 with the song Tornero, finishing in 4th place. After Eurovision, his song became a smash hit across Europe.

About the show

The show will be hosted by Iuliana Tudor and Dan Helciug, while Ioana Voicu will be in the green room speaking with the artists. The selection method is going to be 100% tele-voting.

Last year Televiziunea Română (TVR) had been disqualified from participating in the contest, due to continuous non-payment of debts to the EBU. In 2017, Romania has been drawn to compete in the first half of the second semi-final on 11 May in Kyiv.
