Norway: Melodi Grand Prix 2017 final on 11 March

Norway’s national final for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, Melodi Grand Prix 2017, is all set to take place on the 11 March 2017.

Taking place at the Oslo Spektrum, the Norwegian national final for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest will take place live on the 11 March 2017, in which a total of 10 acts will compete for the right to represent the country at the Kyiv-hosted competition.

Tickets for the Melodi Grand Prix (MGP) 2017 will go on sale tomorrow at 09:00 CET and can be purchased via Ticketmaster.

Agnete represented Norway at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with the entry Icebreaker, finishing in 13th place in semi-final 2.

Entries for Melodi Grand Prix 2017

Thoughout December, the Norwegian national broadcaster NRK will shortlist a total of 10 artists to compete in the nation’s national final, which are set to be announced in January 2017. NRK received a record number of entries for MGP 2017, reaching a grand total of 1,035.

Changes to national final

Earlier this year, NRK confirmed that changes would be made to the selection process for Norway’s national final, in which an international jury will feature in order to help decide the Norwegian representative for Eurovision 2017.

The international jury is the first to be introduced to MGP in 20 years and will feature members from between 10-12 countries.
