A total of 2493 applications were accepted online or via the live castings in Hamburg and Cologne for Unser Song 2017, the German national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Only five out of them will participate in the German final that will be held on 9 February.
Hopes and fantasies were combined altogether during the castings phase and on Friday, 25 November, the lucky 30 acts who qualified to the second round will be notified by phone or mail that will be held in Cologne. The top five out of the 30 will participate in Unser Song 2017.
“I would like to thank all applicants and our wonderful jury for their dedicated support. We will decide next week, and we look forward to meet the 30 participants of the second round in early December!”, says Thomas Schreiber, ARD’s Head of Entertainment.
The national selection is a co-production of NDR and Raab TV. Young, new artists will perform with songs especially written for the ESC, in front of a jury consisting of Lena Meyer-Landrut, Tim Bendzko and Florian Silbereisen, who will provide professional comments. Ultimately, the viewers will decide both artist and song, and the international public may vote on their favourite song via the Eurovision App. The three hours long show will be hosted by Barbara Schöneberger.
Tickets for the final are already on sale online via www.unser-song-2017.de or by calling +49-1806-570070. The show will be held in Raab TV’s Studios in Schanzentraße 22, Cologne. There are no marked places and each ticket cost €35.
