This weekend’s annual NRJ Music Awards ceremony saw the French representative at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, Amir Haddad, go on to pick up a total of 2 awards for his latest achievements!
It’s been one hectic year for France’s Amir Haddad following his participation in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, in which he brought the nation one of their best contest results in recent years, as well as the release of his platinum-selling album, Au cœur de moi.
Already receiving high recognition with his win as Best French Act at last week’s MTV Europe Music Awards, Amir’s music success didn’t end there!
Nominated in both the Francophone Breakthrough of the Year and Francophone Song of the Year categories at this year’s NRJ Music Awards, Amir went on to receive both awards at the 2016 ceremony, one of which was received for his official Eurovision entry, J’ai cherché.

The 2016 edition of the NRJ Music Awards in the 18th edition of its kind; the annual France-hosted event celebrating a mixture of both French and international artists from around the globe.
The ceremony traditionally presents both a Francophone and international version of each award; from Breakthrough to Song of the Year. An Award of Honour is also presented to a variety of artists each year who have made a huge contribution to the national and international music scene over the years.
Other award winners in the 2016 NRJ Music Awards included a vast variety of artists from both in and around France, such as the likes of Tal, Twenty One Pilots, Sia, David Guetta and Justin Bieber.
A special version of John Lennon’s Imagine was performed as a duo by singers Charlie Puth and Louane at the ceremony as a tribute to the victims of the November 2015 Paris attacks.
