The 2016 Australian Eurovision representative, Dami Im, has given an interview to Australian press explaining the support she received from her predecessor, Guy Sebastian.

Guy Sebastian, who finished in fifth place for Australia in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, told Dami Im to give it your best shot, have fun and enjoy the moment. He warned her that Eurovision was a high-pressure environment, and said that her previous experience on the Australian X Factor may help her.

There were 200 million people watching and it was live and you have only one shot to nail it. You win that mental game when you block everything out and lose yourself in the song, says Sebastian.

Im has expressed that it was his backing, and her die-hard fans back home that helped her through it all.

The experience was fantastic and overwhelming at the same time, it was such a whirlwind. The love and support I was receiving from everyone back in Australia and even other countries was unbelievable and I’m so thankful and humbled by it, she said.

Dami Im has continued her national tour since landing back in Australia earlier this month.

It’s been crazily busy and I haven’t really stopped other than a quite coffee back in my home town on the weekend, but I’m loving every minute of it.

Dami Im finished as runner up in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with her ballad Sound of silence.
