The Beovizija music festival will start on Saturday at the Sava Center, when the Serbian representative for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest will be selected. Twenty compositions will compete, but only one will get a visa for Moscow, as well as a financial award (RTS awards the song writer with 3,000 Euros, while the performers receive 2,000 Euros) and the audience can expect a big show.

Having learned much from last year’s experience from the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, the Beovizija team from RTS has decided to organise an outstanding music festival and bring it to a higher level. Predrag Milutinovic, the project producer explains that they have found inspiration from art. “We are trying to introduce an artistic dimension and we are mostly inspired by art and painting, especially cubism. So far we always had a set topic which was followed by a certain stage design, but now the stage graphics will change with every song. Twenty compositions will be presented at the festival and every song will have a story of its own. This year we will have a much more difficult task,” says Milutinovic, adding that they will use the latest digital technology.

Srdjan Timarov and Milena Vasic-Raznatovic, popular actors, will be the festival hosts who will show the most interesting sketches from famous TV series. “Songs from the TV shows are just what is recognisable and they are the most direct relation between music and TV series. In the first three minutes, Srdjan and Milena will sing a song from some TV show and then do a short dialogue,” says Dragoljub Ilic. Special guests will be the ballet ensemble from the National Theatre and Pozoriste at Terazije. The dialogues will be followed by video and graphic projections of certain scenes from famous Serbian TV shows.

The host of the show will be Jovana Jankovic, one of the most popular TV hosts. “I am honored to host the biggest music manifestation in Serbia and to be part of the successful team with an experience from last year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Preparations are currently under way and I work with Ivica Klemenc every day, with whom Zeljko and I prepared for the Eurovision Song Contest. This year, Beovizija will be a great show program!” Jovana concludes.

In the first part of the program, this year’s Eurovision representatives from all former Yugoslav countries will perform, while in the final part Jelena Tomasevic, Boaz and Siruso will sing the peace song Time to pray written by Israeli president Shimon Peres.

In 2009, Serbia was represented by Jelena Tomaševic, who finishedsixth in the final with Oro.This year, the country will enter the second semi final on 14th May.
