It has just been confirmed to esctoday.com that Sastregums, the winning song of Eirodziesma 2009 sung by Intars Busulis will be performed in Russian in the second semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest in May. The song is now called Probka and it was penned by S.Timofejevs.

Sastregums (Rush hour) which, according to the singer, is a sequel to his 2008 Eirodziesma entry Gonki (Speed race in Russian), will not be performed in Latvian in the Eurovision Song Contest semi final but in the language of the host country. The lyrics of Probka, the Russian version of Sastregums, were penned by S. Timofejevs.

Tonight, apart from the Latvian ticket to Moscow, Intars won the Ventspils and Radio SWH awards, a suitcase from the latter so that he would not forget anything when going to Moscow.

You can listen to Probka here.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
