Tonight, the Latvian national final for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest will be held. The ten acts that have qualified through yesterday's semi final will compete for the ticket to Moscow.

The show

The show to be broadcast on LTV1 will start at 20:15 CET and it will be hosted by Kristine Virsnite and Ugis Joksts at the Olympic Center in Ventspils. Ten acts will present one song each and the winner will be chosen by televoting and a jury. As usual guests artists will perform at the final show, among them Pirates of the Sea, winners of Eirodziesma 2008, Kristina Zaharova with the runner up song at the Irish national final I Wish I Could Pretend, as well as the winners of Lithuanian and Polish national selections and other guests.

Latvia was represented by the Pirates of the Sea in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest with their song Wolves of the sea. They finished sixth in the second semi final and equal eleventh in the final. In 2009, the country will enter the second semi final on 14th May.
