Armenia: First information on Eurovision hopefuls

Today, Armenian broadcaster ARMTV announced their hopefuls for this year's Eurovision Song Contest. 21 acts were presented and the running order has been decided.

Here's some information on some of the well known finalists in the competition.

1. The Beautified Project

The Beautified project was formed in 2004 by Andre Simonian in London. Its music was designed to portray the dark side of human spirit, with a kind of melancholic and mellow sound that reminds us of musicians such as Dido, James Blunt and David Grey, but with kind of anger and despair in its lyrics and attitude that has more in common with the likes of Cold Play, Radiohead and even Metallica.

2. Shprot

A successful armenian pop singer, who is famous with her extraordinary appereance, behaviour and songs. She became famous after few songs among which "Eghir azat"(Be Free) and excellent appereance on local show "2 stars" where she made spectacoulous shows.

3. Inga & Anush Arshakyanner sisters

Inga & Anush are known for their singing which they claim as a mix of modern and traditional armenian music, Inga and Anush remain one of the most serious contenders along with Shprot and Mher.Their song is mixed with some rock tunes as well.

4. Mher

Mher is a new star in armenian show biz. he represented Armenia in New Wave international song contest in 2008 and reached 5th place..he started singing since he was 4.

5. Tigran Petrosyan

A popular singer, who had chance to be in Eurovision twice, in back vocals for Sirusho and Hayko.Tigran is mostly known for his beautiful ballads and duets.
