Finland: Eurovision entrant chosen

Tonight, the Finnish national final for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held. Eight songs were presented in the final stage, which was held right after the second chance round with the non-qualifiers from the semi finals. Eventually, it was decided that Waldo's People will go to Moscow with the song Lose control.

In the second chance round, it was decided that the following two songs would join the six ones already qualified for the final:

  • PassionworksSurrender
  • VinkThe greatest plan

In the final round, it was then decided by televoting that Waldo's People will go to Moscow with the song Lose control written by Waldo, A. Lehtonen, Karima andA. Kratz Gut. The top three in the final were:

  1. Waldo's PeopleLose control – 45.1%
  2. Signmark feat. Osmo IkonenSpeakerbox – 42.1%
  3. PassionworksSurrender – 13.7%

The esctoday.com poll voters agreed with the televoters as Waldo's people were the clear winners of the poll. Passionworks finished second in the poll annd third in the televote.

In 2008, Finland was represented by Teräsbetoni, who finished eighth in the first semi final and 22nd in the final with Missä miehet ratsastaa. In 2009, Finland will take in the first semi final on 12th May.
