The first broadcast of Eurovizijos 2016 has ended with three contestants being eliminated from the competition.

Lithuania’s marathon national selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest got underway tonight with eight of the 32 contestants performing their songs. The line-up included former Eurovision representatives Erica Jennings (2001) and Donny Montell (2012).

After an international jury vote, which was combined with a public vote, it was announced that the three entrants that have been eliminated from the competition were Vlad Max, Elena Jurgaityte and Dovydas Petrosius. 

Donny Montell and I’ve been waiting for this night came out on top of the vote.

Next week, the second set of artists and songs will be performed. The show was pre-recorded on 6 January.

Last year, Vaidas Baumila and Monika Linkyte represented Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Their song , This time, made it through the semi-final and the duo placed 18th with 30 points.
