Romania: Selecția Națională 2016 host city and venue revealed

The Romanian national broadcaster, TVR has revealed the host city and venue for the upcoming Romanian national selection, Selecția Națională 2016.

In collaboration with the Local Public Administration of Baia Mare Municipality, the two shows of Selecția Națională 2016 will be hosted at the Polivalenta Hall “Lascar Pana” which holds a capacity of 2,500 seats. Speaking of the choice of host city and venue, the Romanian Head of Delegation Iuliana Marciuc revealed:

The organising of the National Selection outside Bucharest’s studios has already become a tradition for TVR. The last shows have been held in Brasov city, in the year 2014 and in Craiova city, in the year 2015. This year was the turn of the inhabitants of Baia Mare to watch from the stands the evolution of the performers, within Eurovision contest.

Selecția Națională 2016 will take place on both the 4 and 6 March. The 12 selected participants will all perform in the semi-final of the selection of the 4 March, but only six will qualify to the grand final on the 6 March. The winner will be decided 100% via televote.

The 12 bidding representatives along with their entries will be revealed next week on the 11 February via a press conference following a live audition phase which will take place from the 8 to the 10 February. Submissions are still open for acts to send their bidding entries to the national broadcaster. Here you can read more about the submission process.
